The Importance of Industrial Floor Coating

The increased demand for industrial floor coating can be credited to the rapid growth of concrete usage in buildings and households. It’s a well-known fact that concrete, once coated, will appear more pleasing. That’s why nowadays concrete coating has become a valuable tool in building homes and other establishments. Not only does it add more charm to your home, it makes the concrete last longer as well. Textured and patterned floors are always nice to look at. Even walls and countertops can be more pleasant-looking with the help of concrete coatings.

Most people are acquainted with industrial floor coating. There are some misconceptions though. Stated below are some valuable facts about floor coatings.

Coatings and Coloring Mixtures: Although some products improve the appearance of concrete, they are not considered as coatings. A chemical stain like acid stain that may seem like coating is not exactly a coating. It is basically a coloring process that undergoes a chemical reaction once applied to the concrete surface. There are many coatings that are technically not genuine that are available in the market.

The Right Process of Coating Concrete:  Just like industrial floor mats do, floor coating bridges the porous surface of the concrete while trapping the moisture present. That’s why many people think that coating would initially fail. In order to prevent problems such as peeling, blistering and delamination, the moisture should be allowed to evaporate. There are a lot of products being sold to minimize the concrete coating failures. One of these products is the new Elastomeric coating. It consists of a thick elastic film that intensifies the concrete surfaces and helps conceal concrete problems like patches and cracks.

30-Day Curing Period: It only takes 7 days of curing for some products to get ready for usage. Read the manufacturer’s instructions carefully in order to see if this is also applicable to your coating product.

Concrete Block Fillers: Many people think that concrete block fillers are insignificant. Little do they know, block fillers help enhance the concrete surface. It fills up the pores and voids in the surface and provides a stable foundation too. There are block fillers that are not as heavy and complicated to apply that can spare you more time and effort. These latest block fillers also weigh much less than the regular ones.

These facts may seem unimportant to some people but can be a great help to those looking for the right industrial floor coating. You’ll be able to save a lot of money, time and energy when you know the perfect coating for your concrete. Not only will it improve the quality and durability of your concrete, it will also be a lovelier sight to look at.
